Charges dropped, kudos to Mike
Last February I was falsely accused of an assault and battery by a woman I had briefly dated. It was a he says/she says situation, and despite the fact that I had text messages and phone records proving she had fabricated the accusations out of revenge, the police took her word over mine and assault/battery charges were brought. I had never been in any legal trouble before, and in searching online for defense attorneys in the Grand Rapids area, sought out Mike Bartish based on the many positive reviews I read. I can say that Mike exceeded my expectations. He was very easy to talk to and his staff was very friendly and easy to reach whenever I had questions. Being my first time in any type of legal trouble, I had no clue what to expect, and Mike’s expertise and knowledge of the legal process gave me comfort throughout the process. In the final weeks before jury trial, the prosecution offered me several plea deals which I turned down. What I really admired about Mike is the professionalism and integrity he demonstrated. While you might expect a defense attorney to pressure you to take a plea deal simply to get the case off his desk and not have to do any more work, Mike, having reviewed the evidence in my case, both believed in me and never pressured me to take a plea deal, even the day before trial when the prosecution offered me a very attractive plea deal. The day before trial, and just hours after I rejected the prosecution’s final plea deal, the prosecution dropped the charges. Although this was a painful ordeal, I am very grateful to have had Mike’s representation and expertise in navigating this scary and difficult process. I firmly believe that Mike’s diligent work and willingness to stay the course in my defense played a large part in the prosecution’s decision to drop the charges before trial.
